The Advisory Council for Bosnia and Herzegovina (ACBH) is pleased to announce that Congresswoman Grace Meng has joined the Congressional Caucus on Bosnia (Bosnia Caucus). Congresswoman Meng is the U.S. Representative for New York's 6th congressional district, serving since 2013.

Congresswoman Meng attended the University of Michigan and then earned a law degree from Yeshiva University's Benjamin Cardozo School of Law. She is the first Asian American Member of Congress from New York State, and the only Congressmember of Asian descent in the entire Northeast. She is also the first female Member of Congress from Queens since former Vice Presidential nominee Geraldine Ferraro.

Congresswoman Meng serves on the the powerful House Appropriations Committee and its Subcommittees on State and Foreign Operations, and Commerce, Justice, Science and Related Agencies. The Appropriations Committee is responsible for funding every federal agency, program, and project within the United States government. Previously, Congresswoman Meng served on the House Foreign Affairs Committee and the House Small Business Committee. Congresswoman Meng currently serves as a Vice Chair of the Democratic National Committee (DNC) and is also a Senior Whip and Regional Whip for New York. Apart from passing several pieces of legislation into law, Congresswoman Meng also worked to create New York City school holidays for Lunar New Year and Eid.

"ACBH is honored to have Congresswoman Meng as a member of the Bosnia Caucus and we welcome her support for a united, democratic and multiethnic Bosnia and Herzegovina. We look forward to working with her and her staff on issues that affect the Bosnian American community," said ACBH Vice Chairman, Nedim Music.

The Congressional Caucus on Bosnia, chaired by long-standing friends of BiH, Congressman Chris Smith (R-NJ) and Congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson (D-TX) provides congressional support for necessary political and economic reforms in BiH, and works to strengthen the U.S. engagement in the region.

ACBH looks forward to working with all Bosnia Caucus members on improving U.S. - BiH relations. ACBH encourages all who are friends of BiH to contact their members of Congress and ask them to join the bipartisan Congressional Caucus on Bosnia.
